THE POLAR EXPRESS ™

Live the magic of the classic Polar Express story with the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. Children (and parents!) are encouraged to come in pajamas. Depart from Utica’s Union Station (decorated for the season) and head north, interacting with our elves and listening to Liam Neeson’s reading of The Polar Express by Chris van Allsburg. When you arrive at our North Pole (Holland Patent, NY), Santa will give the first gift of Christmas and board the train, spending time with each and every family during the return trip. Don’t forget your camera – you’ll want to capture the memories of your time with Santa! When you get back to the station, we’ll have hot chocolate and cookies ready for you. Join the many families who come back to see us every year!

A note about reservations: This event sells out every year. In order to ensure that you are able to travel on your desired date, make your reservations as soon as you are able to confirm travel plans.

Doo Wop 50’s Train
NEW DATE - October 31, 2010
Take a trip back in time with the Adirondack Scenic Railroad! Ride the train north from Utica’s Union Station to Remsen Station to eat at The Soda Fountain, Remsen’s ‘50s-themed restaurant! The Soda Fountain girls will host the party on the train, and we’ll bring you back to Utica afterwards.

Travel north to Remsen Station, tasting a selection of wines along the way (check the schedule to see which winery is riding, or if the Saranac folks will be joining us). We provide the snacks and the music, plus samples of whatever the winery or brewery is presenting. If you like what you taste, you can purchase beers and wines by the bottle! Non-alcoholic beverages are also available.

Travel north to Remsen Station, tasting Saranac beers from local FXMatts Brewery along the way (check the schedule to see which winery is riding, or if the Saranac folks will be joining us). We provide the snacks and the music, plus samples of whatever the winery or brewery is presenting. If you like what you taste, you can purchase beers and wines by the bottle! Non-alcoholic beverages are also available.

Rail & Cruise Utica to Thendara
Let the Adirondack Scenic Railroad do the driving for you! You’ll travel through forests, over rivers and streams, seeing all the hidden beauties of the Adirondacks. Take a 2 hour cruise on First through Fourth lakes with Old Forge Lake Cruises during your layover, and check out the shops in town before you head home. A wonderful trip for those who like a full, active day!

Woods Talk
Every Thursday July & August
Become acquainted with Adirondack ecology and history on a walk in the woods led by former New York State forester Bernard Davies! Ride the train north to the site of the old Carter Station, hop out for your walk, and return. An informative trip for those of all ages!

Time you should arrive at Thendara Station: 15 minutes prior to departure

Utica to Thendara passengers may wish to continue
on to Carter on the Woods Walk train before returning to Utica.
The fare for the combined trip is $50 for adults, $45 for seniors,
and $32 for youth. This is $24 Savings.

Easter Bunny Train & Easter Egg Hunt
