Notes about Wheelchair Accessibility

The Utica, Remsen, Thendara, Lake Placid, and Saranac Lake Stations are currently wheelchair-accessible. There is a wheelchair lift or a ramp at each of these locations to assist wheelchair-bound passengers.
Our other stations are not wheelchair-accessible at this time, nor is the shuttle bus that brings passengers from the Thendara Station into Old Forge for the Utica-Thendara round trip. Those who use a wheelchair for most transportation but are still able to walk may bring their wheelchairs with them, walking a few steps to board or disembark the train or to get on the bus. If the wheelchair folds up, it can be brought on the bus.
Due to the size of the entrances to our coaches, any wheelchair must be of standard size – we are unable to accommodate large electric scooters.
If your party includes someone who is in a wheelchair, be sure to notify us during the checkout process. If you did not notify us during checkout, call the station from which you will be departing:
Utica: 1-800-819-2291
Thendara: (315) 369-6290
Lake Placid/Saranac Lake: (518) 523-4237
Any passengers who are in wheelchairs must arrive early (30-45 minutes prior to departure) to allow extra time for boarding.
